Who is this course suitable for?

This qualification offers an introduction into the playwork sector. It is ideal for playworkers who take on voluntary, seasonal or part-time roles in the industry, developing the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare the learner for employment in the sector. It is not designed to confirm occupational competence, only that the learner is ready to enter employment as a playworker.

Differentiation Strategies used:

Differentiation will depend on the session and students. Where appropriate, different resources will be provided for students. This will either provide them with different outcomes or resources to work throughout the session. Stronger students will be expected to produce work at higher levels. Extensions activities will be provided where possible to facilitate stronger students. For lower levels, where possible the activities will be provided in simplified version. If possible, similar abilities groupings will be provided.


Learners can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Playwork (NVQ) which is designed to confirm occupational competence. Alternatively, they may progress vertically to level 3 and/or level 4 qualifications in playwork.
