The Muath Trust - Building on the Past, Forging the Future PDF Print E-mail
I am privileged to assume the role of Chief Executive of the Muath Trust, and look forward to using this opportunity to serve the community in Birmingham. The Muath Trust has grown from a small organisation in the 1990’s into an important service provider catering for the needs of the community. Today it has a large portfolio of projects supporting the moral, social and educational development of the community as well enhancing its employability and economic prosperity. With the support of the staff and community members, I will work to build on the successes of the organisation and grow our services further.
My professional background is diverse, from being a Chemical Engineer, to a Software Engineer and recently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton Business School. In addition, I have been heavily involved in a number of community and charity organisations over the last 30 years or so. From this diverse experience I have learned the value of a good and open communication culture, accountability, and the importance of on-going improvements in skills, quality, efficiency and performance. I look forward to working with our staff and community to ensure that together we continue to develop the Muath Trust whic is driven by these values.
I have now been in the role of CE for about a month, and have spent the majority of my time gaining an understanding of the environment and the strategic issues facing the Trust. I would like to spend more time listening to our staff, our beneficiaries, community members, other key stakeholders, as well as the board members of the Trust. This is very important for me in building a greater understanding of the challenges we are facing.
The one thing that has struck me over..>>   << the  last month is the incredible dedication and professionalism of our staff.  The Muath Trust is fortunate to have a highly skilled and professional staff with a genuine desire to help the community members in developing themselves and achieving their goals. I am also very impressed with the high regard with which the Muath Trust is held, not only by the staff themselves, but also by local government and our strategic partners. This is a tribute to the leadership and hard work of former Chief Executives and their teams over the last 20 years or so. It is indeed a great pleasure and a privilege to take over the leadership of such a professional and well respected community organisation; particularly in the face of exciting and challenging times confronting our community, city and society as a whole.
Over the next few months I will be leading a strategic planning journey for the Muath Trust to ensure that we are rightly positioned for responding effectively to future challenges. This will be a cooperative activity involving our staff, community members and partners.  We will not only be analysing the future of our environment and its impact on the community, but will also be examining our own capacity and capabilities to respond to the challenges ahead. In this task I would welcome any suggestions and input from the staff and community members.
I am confident that by working together with a clear vision, passion and commitment we can capture many new opportunities and respond effectively to the emerging challenges we face.
