Cultural Programmes

TMT takes its role in building harmony amongst communities very seriously. Many opportunities are taken to bring together people from various communities and religions to remove ignorance about one another and to facilitate dialogue.

The following are examples of the activities and programmes undertaken to date.

Community Iftar – this is organised to coincide with the Muslim month of Ramadhan, where people from different faiths are invited to share the breaking of the fast with the Muslim community and get a better understanding of Islam and Muslims.
Cultural Awareness programmes – these are seminars and exhibitions organised to raise awareness of the religious and cultural life of the different Muslim communities in the City. The target audience tends to be officers of statutory organisations in the main who wish to improve their understanding of the communities they serve.
Attendance and promotion of city-wide events organised by the Birmingham City Council and other organisations.
Trustees and staff of TMT participate as speakers at conferences and seminars to share experience with others about the needs of local communities and to plan better and improved services.

Social and Recreational Programmes

Social ad recreational programmes have a vital role to play in the life of communities, particularly minority communities. Amongst the many activities, TMT organises Eid celebrations, trips, meeting with visiting dignitaries from abroad and supports many local groups by hosting their programmes and activities.
